Need Advice?
ASA is the umbrella group for advice networks in the UK. Our members include CABs, Law Centres, Shelter, Age UK and Help the Aged, Youth Access, and around 800 independent advice agencies which are members of Advice UK.
ASA does not give advice to the public. If you need advice, here are some suggestions:
Call into a local advice agency, CAB or Law Centre. You can find a directory of local agencies on each of the ASA member organisations websites.
Advicenow is run by ASA and provides user-friendly information on the law and your rights in England and Wales.
Community Legal Advice is the website of the Community Legal Service in England and Wales. This is funded by the Legal Services Commission. It gives information and guidelines about the law and your rights, and contains a directory of solicitors firms and advice organisations holding the CLS Quality Mark. On this website you can calculate whether you are eligible for legal aid, and find advisers who can help you under the legal aid scheme. You can call the Community Legal Advice helpline on 0845 345 4 345.
You can get information and advice about your consumer rights from Consumerdirect, or call 0845 4 04 05 06.
You can find a local solicitor through:
- The Find a solicitor page on the Law Society of England and Wales website.
- The directory of solicitors on the Northern Ireland Legal Services Commission website.
- The directory of solicitors on the Law Society of Scotland website.
